Course Description
In this course, you will learn the essential skills of patient care to protect and support the life of a suddenly ill or injured person until emergency medical services arrive. Instruction will cover first aid skills such as those that help in the control of bleeding, shock management, stabilizing fractures and dislocations.
This course will also provide you with the skills and confidence to respond to a cardiac arrest at home, in public or at work. You’ll get hands-on practice in performing high-quality CPR, using an AED, relieving choking and giving mouth-to-mouth breaths or breaths with a mask. This course covers CPR and AED for adults and children.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of Standard First Aid CPR and AED -Level A, you will:
have gained knowledge and skills in basic first aid.
be able to perform CPR on adults and children.
know how to use an AED on adults and children.
recall the proper measures to take in a wide array of emergency situations.
receive a 3-year certification in Standard First Aid CPR and AED -Level A.

This course has no prerequisites.

Course materials are included.
All of our first aid classes use the curriculum offered by The Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF). All programs meet the federal, provincial and territorial requirements for the workplace. These include the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations, HRSDC (Human Resources Canada), Canadian Labour Code and COHS (Canadian Occupational Health & Safety).
Annual CPR Renewal is recommended as the CPR certification is registered with HSF for 1 year.
