CourseGraphic Course Description:
This tutorial is designed to help prepare you to write the Pesticide Applicator's Certification Exam in Landscape, Industrial or Agricultural areas. Topics include legislation & safety, herbicides & weed control, insecticides & disease control, calculations & calibration.

The tutorial offers three days of classroom instruction.  Day 1 focuses on the core material and an introduction to calculations.  Calculations and equipment, biology, IPM and technical concepts will be covered on days 2 and 3.
For review purposes, access will be provided to three pre-recorded webinar sessions. Each session will focus on a designation - Agriculture, Industrial, Landscape.  You will have access for a two week period following the in-person course.
 
Agriculture – includes custom application to agriculture crops.  
 
Landscape – includes the use of pesticides (other than fumigants) by ground application for the maintenance of ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers and turf on outdoor residential, commercial (e.g. golf courses and cemeteries) and public land.  This class includes herbicide application to parking lots and roads for control of designated noxious or restricted weeds within urban areas, but does not include herbicide applications for brush control.
 
Industrial – The designation includes the use of pesticides by ground application for controlling weeds and brush on industrial areas including roadsides, power lines, pipelines, rights of way, easements, railways, petroleum well sites and equipment yards.  This class also includes herbicide application to parking lots and landscaped areas surrounding industrial facilities for the control of designated noxious and restricted weeds.


Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of Pesticide Applicator Tutorial (Ag/Land/Industrial), you will:
  • gained knowledge regarding pesticide application in landscape, agricultural or industrial areas.
  • reviewed the safety and legislation involved in pesticide application.
  • feel confident going into your Certified Pesticide Applicator Exam.

No prerequisites required.

Please purchase home study material and bring the binder to the classroom sessions. Home study materials must be purchased separately through Lakeland College 10 business days prior to the start of the course. Call 1-780-853-8646.
 
Book your on-line certification exam through Lakeland College (1 780-853-8646) at least 2 weeks prior to date of the start of this course.  Cost is approximately $225 + GST. Students must be 18 years of age or older to become Certified Pesticide Applicators.
