CourseGraphic The Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation (PARE) is an occupational test designed to assess one’s ability to perform the physical demands of police work. It is divided into three sections: the obstacle course, push/pull (weight station) and a bag carry. The first two stations are timed, and the third station is a pass or fail activity that is not timed.
  • Station 1 – Obstacle course
This simulates proceeding to the scene of a problem or occurrence.
  • Station 2 – Push/Pull
This simulates having to physically control a suspect.
  • Station 3 – Weight Carry
This simulates having to remove an object or a person from a scene.

Prior to Testing: 
 
  1. Complete the Get Active Questionnaire and bring it with you on testing day.
  2. If you answer YES to any of the questions please consider seeing your health care provider for  medical clearance.  Use this form for medical clearance.
  3. Resting blood pressure and heart rate measurements will be taken prior to testing.  If your resting values exceed 160/90 for blood pressure and 100 bpm for heart rate, you will not be permitted to run the PARE and your registration will be transferred to a later date or refunded less the admin fee of $30.

On Testing Day:
1. Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled test time
2. Park in Lot V, paid parking through mobile HONK app. 
3. Enter through the PE (Physical Education) building - see Parking Map. 
4. Proceed to gym C. 


Cancellation
Call our office at 403-382-6919 or email befitforlife@lethpolytech.ca. You may be able to attend another scheduled session or if you need to cancel completely, be sure to do so four business days prior to the course start date to qualify for a refund minus the admin fee of $30. No refunds are provided if we are notified after this point.
